Nick and Clint announced, with great fanfare, the winners of the 50 Campfires Gear of the Year winners in the “Eat” category. First off, the Camp Chef: Pocket Puff Iron was discussed as an essential piece of campfire cooking gear if you wish to make Æbleskivers (or appleskivers) or any small sphere shaped food over a fire. Next in the lineup was the extremely well designed and portable Gerber: Freescape Camp Kitchen Kit with the cutting board and built in knife sharpener and space to store the two spare knives. After that, Clint expressed his enjoyment of portability of the GSI: Aluminium Dutch Oven line that weighs just a portion of their cast iron predecessor weigh. At this point in this Daily Outdoor Periscope, the term “Pocket Bro” was assigned to Clint that reluctantly became a thing that he wished would just go away. Then Mountain House: Dehydrated Entrees came up as the forth winner in the eat category for their delicious line of dehydrated foods. They pack away easily and produce some great flavor. Finally, the Fort Collins Specialty Foods Stuff’n Mallows: Chocolate Chip Marshmallows blew Nick and Clint away with their flavor going so far as to call them gourmet marshmallows you’d get at a high end restaurant.
