Wildlife Officials Safely Release Black Bear That Broke Into Disney’s Magic Kingdom

A female black bear found her way to the happiest place on Earth on Monday morning. The bear was reportedly spotted in a tree on the western side of Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, near the Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction.

Parts of the theme park remained off limits even after the gates opened as experts from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) searched for and captured the bear. Since then, the FWC has safely relocated the bear and released her into the nearby Ocala National Forest.

In a statement to media outlets, the FWC wrote: “In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff have captured the animal and are relocating the bear out of the park to an area in or around the Ocala National Forest.”

The FWC also said that bears actively search for food during autumn to fatten up for the winter. It’s likely, therefore, that this bear was simply searching for food when it broke into Walt Disney World. (Those churros do smell good, after all.)
