Mother nature is a powerful force that can rearrange the landscape as we know it. Recently, this power was displayed firsthand in Great Smoky Mountains National Park as strong winds tore through the area.

A photographer captured this scene:

Chris Dover shared this video and others to his Instagram as strong winds howled through the Great Smoky Mountains. In the video, you can see trees lift in the air and up comes the moss-covered ground.

Dover says he shot this video last Tuesday on Mount LeConte, on the Tennessee side of the park. Fortunately, there are no reports of widespread damage to the park as of today.

Last week, the park closed multiple trails, roadways and campgrounds ahead of the strong storm. Recent dry weather has caused fire concerns in the area and across the southern Appalachian Mountains. Fire crews have stayed busy in November, working to extinguish small fires around Great Smoky, as well as New River Gorge and Shenandoah National Parks. The fires have also created closures along the Appalachian Trail.
