Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge Will Be The Next State Park

seven islands wildlife refugeRecently Governor Bill Haslam announced that Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge will become Tennessee’s 56th State Park. Seven Islands is located in Kodak and is a great 360 acre park for hiking, wildlife observation and educational opportunities for schools and other groups. The park, has a boat launch for canoes and kayaks. It is adjacent to the French Broad River with several wooded islands and inlets. Research is a primary use of the facility with 13 projects currently going on through the University of Tennessee and other key research facilities through out the state.

Seven Island is currently being run by the Knox County Parks and Recreation and The Seven Islands Foundation. In the coming months the park will be transferred over to Tennessee State Parks. For more information visit the Tennessee State Parks website.
