Sealskinz Mid Weight Waterproof Socks Review

Have you ever hiked or biked in the rain and find your shriveled foot soaked at the end of the day, thinking to yourself, “if only there was a better way to keep my foot dry.” Would you like that to not happen? Sealskinz has come up with a mid weight sock that will keep your feet warm and dry during your hikes, bikes, camp outings or rainy day walks. Let’s check out how it stacks up.

Appearance: These socks look great. They appear to be solid and comfortable socks. From looking at them you wouldn’t think they were waterproof. The blue is a nice accent color to split up the black and gray and makes them look cool and modern.

Functionality: When you first put them on they feel a little stiff. Not stiff like a paper bag, but it doesn’t move quite like a conventional sock. However, after they’ve been on your foot for a while they get more comfortable as you wear them. Riding a motorcycle and walking many miles in heavy riding boots should have caused a lot of sweat to develop, but our feet stayed dry. We were surprised how breathable they were while still being waterproof. In short, it functions like a sock and maintains its promise of being water proof.

Ease Of Use: If you can put on a pair of socks, you can put on these bad boys.

Durability: The material feels very durable and the stitching is high quality. In our experience these socks seem like they will last for quite a while. There are reviews of users who experience the waterproof feature wearing off after a year of heavy use. However, the waterproof guarantee is for walking and cycling not for heavy running. If used for walking/hiking or cycling the waterproofness should last much longer.

Value: Coming in at $50, these Sealskinz mid weight, mid length socks are definitely on the expensive side. Yet, these are not your typical socks. Comparable brand socks with the waterproof feature are actually more costly. Considering these features this would be a good buy.
