Camp Minnesota: I’m talking with Meagan today. She is the City Clerk in Peterson, in Minnesota. She’s going to tell us a little bit about Peterson RV Campground. How’s it going today, Meagan?

Meagan: Perfect.

Camp Minnesota: So, how long has the Peterson RV Campground been there and how did it come about?

Meagan:That’s a good question. I couldn’t tell you how long it’s been here. Quite a few years.

Camp Minnesota: Okay.

Meagan: I’ve only been the City Clerk since January. So, what we have to offer to ten full hook-up sites. Full electric, water, and sewer. Pretty much open May 15th through October 15th, depending on weather.

Camp Minnesota: Okay. And are there spots for tenters there?

Meagan: Right now there are no spots for tents because we do not have showers.

Camp Minnesota: Oh, okay.

Meagan: So, the Department of Health – it is just an RV campground.

Camp Minnesota: Okay, I was unaware. So, in Minnesota, is that how it’s setup? If you want to offer tent camping, you have to have showers.

Meagan: I believe so.

Camp Minnesota: Oh, okay. And what’s the main reason, would you say, that people come and stay at Peterson RV Campground? What are the main activities they get involved in?

Meagan: The biggest activity would be the bike trail. The River State Tail that goes right behind the campground. But also, it’s just a nice, quant little town, located in the bluffs of Southeast Minnesota. You know, the Root River goes through and carves out, and so we are in one of the beautiful valleys of the Root River.

Camp Minnesota: Okay. And what are some of your favorite attractions in that area?

Meagan: Right now the leaves are absolutely beautiful. So, the fall color is great. I like to kayak down the river and float down the river in a tube, and bike and skate on the trail.

Camp Minnesota: Sure.

Meagan: And in the wintertime, they groom the trail for cross-country skiing, so there are all kinds of things to do. But also, it’s just a nice, quiet, quant little town that’s welcoming.

Camp Minnesota: Okay. Now, if you want to go tubing, is there a place that will do drop-offs and stuff for you?

Meagan: Yes, we’ve got Geneva’s Canoe, Kayak, and Tube Rental in town.

Camp Minnesota: Perfect.

Meagan: And then just outside of town is Just Around the Bend Canoe, Kayak, and Tube Rental.

Camp Minnesota: Okay, one more question for you. If you were going to spend just one night at the RV Campground there, in Peterson, which particular site would you pull into?

Meagan: I would pull into Site 10, because it’s on the end with the most trees.

Camp Minnesota: Okay, so it’s a little bit more secluded.

Meagan: Yeah.

Camp Minnesota: Okay, perfect. Well, it sounds like a great place to visit. A lot of activities around there, and it sounds like it’s a little bit more of a mellow RV Park, which is nice.

Meagan: Right. We only have ten sites, so it’s not anything super huge. It stays pretty quiet. Right on the edge of the campground is the City Park, so you’ve got the playground, diamond, volleyball courts; so all kinds of things to do.

Camp Minnesota: All right, perfect. Well, thanks for taking a little bit of time out of your day, Meagan, to chat with us about the Campground in Peterson, in Minnesota.

Meagan: No problem. Thanks, Clint.

Camp Minnesota: All right, bye.
