Pelican 9000 Light Case Review

On a kayak or canoe trip it’s nice to have items that serve more than one purpose because you’re often limited on space. That’s one thing I really like about the Pelican 9000 Light Case. The lights are bright enough for it to easily serve as a lantern, and the added functionality of a dry box is great. Let’s talk a closer look.

Functionality: The Pelican 9000 Light Case is a lantern, hanging tent light, and locking dry box. It can shine light in many different positions, making it quite an adaptable little piece of gear. It easily holds an iPhone 6 and it even just barely fits an iPhone 6 Plus.

Ease of Use: Piece of cake. The power button is huge and made from grippy rubber. When your hands are wet it will still be easy to operate.

Durability: Very rugged build that could easily survive a drop on in the dirt. We’d be a little more careful around rocks though.

Value: The MSRP is $59.99, but it can be had for about $45 online. For the double duty it does we find it to be a pretty good value.

Weight: The Pelican 9000 Light Case weighs just over a pound – not a big deal for a canoe or kayak camper.
