Love Bob Ross? Here Are 6 Outdoor Locations that Look Like His Paintings

Bob Ross was a prolific painter, and he has become a beloved icon that spans generations. (His fans include people who weren’t even alive when his programming was airing on TV.) The artist and television personality loved painting scenes of nature and did so in a particularly quick style that left viewers in awe of his work. He also used an exceptionally soft-spoken voice that made viewers feel calm.

Bob Ross lived a truly interesting life and left behind a legacy that brings people together in their love for art and their joy in creating it. Whether you’re an artist or not, you can still enjoy his work, and if you’re an outdoors lover, you’ve been dying to find a way to jump into those scenic paintings. Since I am both an art and an outdoors lover, I went on the hunt for hiking locations that look like Bob Ross paintings. So settle in and grab your pet squirrel, because it’s about to get super relaxing here.

Hidden Creek (Season 13, Episode 6)

Location: Cle Elum River, Washington

This painting reminds me of a fall day, with some yellowing leaves. The scene in Hidden Creek is comforting, and you can almost feel how chilly the water is.

It’s the imperfections that make something beautiful. That’s what makes it different and unique from everything else.

Soft Mountain Glow (Season 12, Episode 11)

Location: Glacier National Park

Bob Ross was a fan of snow-covered mountains, and they’re featured in many of his paintings. These snowy mountains are tall and majestic, and the leaves have yet to fall off the trees in the foreground.

If it’s not what you want, stop and change it. Don’t just keep going and expect it to get better.

Peaceful Haven (Season 13, Episode 7)

Location: Coyote Valley Trail

A peaceful walk in the woods can really help you when you’ve been feeling stressed out. The bright blue sky and lush green foliage in this painting (and real-life location) will just make you feel better. Plus, as you walk past the rushing waters, you’ll be able to listen to some good old-fashioned white noise.

If we all painted the same way, what a boring world it would be.

Lakeside Cabin (Season 10, Episode 13)

Location: Mule Creek Canyon to Paradise Lodge

Though the Paradise Lodge might look a little bit more upscale, the lakeside view will invoke the same feelings as Ross’s Lakeside Cabin painting. Paradise Lodge looks over the Rogue River, and Bob Ross probably would have been happy to make a number of paintings of this spot.

We put some dark in, only so our light will show. You have to have dark in order to show light.

Black Seascape (Season 12, Episode 5)

Location: Bodega Head Beach

Though Black Seascape is a little less rocky than Bodega Head Beach, they do look rather similar with the stunning waves crashing against the rocks. Bob Ross is known for his iconic paintings of woods and beautiful forests, but from time to time, he branched out and painted seascapes, showing off his skills and painting the ocean.

This is your bravery test. You worked so hard and then a crazy-haired guy tells you to throw a big ol’ tree on top of it all. Take a two-inch brush . . .

Winter Mountain (Season 12, Episode 13)

Location: Denali National Park

We don’t really need a Bob Ross painting to convince us that we need to travel to Denali National Park, but it can’t hurt. Denali National Park is a stunning, rugged winter wonderland and Winter Mountain encapsulates the same look of snow-capped mountains with surrounding evergreen trees.
