Camping in West Indiana: Misty Morning
Camp Indiana: I’m talking with Judy Finch. She’s the Owner of Misty Morning Campground in Indiana. Judy, why don’t you get us started by giving us a little bit of history on Misty Morning Campground?
Videos by Outdoors with Bear Grylls
Judy Finch: Well, it’s an older campground. It was started back in the 1950s. It has two fishing lakes on it. It has a 19-unit historic building. It has a nice rolling landscape. It’s right across the road from Leiber State Park, which has a nine-mile-long lake, so we do some boat storage for folks along with having the campsites.
Camp Indiana: Okay.
Judy Finch: We have entertainment there and we try to keep the people happy.
Camp Indiana: Okay. And is it pronounced the Old Cagels Mill?
Judy Finch: I’m sorry, what did you say?
Camp Indiana: There’s a picture of an old mill here on your site that looks pretty interesting.
Judy Finch: It’s near that area. Yeah, that shows some things in the area. Right.
Camp Indiana: Okay, so that’s something someone can go ahead and visit if they’re in the area.
Judy Finch: Yeah.
Camp Indiana: And what types of camping do you offer at this particular campground, Misty Morning?
Judy Finch: Okay, we offer seasonal campsites. We offer overnighters and weekenders. We offer tent sites and we do have one rental cabin online right now.
Camp Indiana: Okay. And what are the most popular activities for the guests there? I’m looking online here and it looks like everything from hayrides to wrestling.
Judy Finch: Yeah, we try to put entertainment on during the weekends. Certainly during the holidays.
Camp Indiana: Fun. What are the most common activities for guests there?
Judy Finch: I guess the fishing, because they like to fish in the fishing ponds.
Camp Indiana: Okay. And in addition to the Cagels Mill – I have no idea if I’m pronouncing that right or not.
Judy Finch: Yes, you are.
Camp Indiana: In addition to that, what are some other attractions in the area that guests can check out?
Judy Finch: Well, the main attraction is Lieber State Park. It’s just a beautiful place and they have the lake, and you can go over and boat and fish, and do whatever.Camp Indiana: Okay, two more questions for you.
Judy Finch: Sure.
Camp Indiana: If you were going to spend just one hour hanging out at Misty Morning Campground, how would you spend your time there?
Judy Finch: Probably just walking around, talking with folks because there are some really nice folks and they’re down home.
Camp Indiana: Nice. And if you could spend just one night at Misty Morning Campground, which specific site would you stay at and why?
Judy Finch: You know what. I probably wouldn’t be able to answer that question, because I’m not that familiar with the sites.
Camp Indiana: Sure.
Judy Finch: But probably one in the B section. They’re very nice and they have lots of shade, and I think that would be my choice.
Camp Indiana: All right, excellent. Well, thank you for that tip, Judy, and thank you for telling us a little bit more about Misty Morning Campground in Indiana.
Judy Finch: Great.
