Tent Camping
Whether you’re heading out on a backcountry camping excursion or looking to enjoy some good old-fashioned winter camping, there are a few items you’ll want to have in your gear closet. When you’re backcountry camping, you’re carrying all of your gear on your back, so you’ll want to keep your pack as light as possible. Prep your tent for cooler ground by packing a ground tarp, as well as an insulated, sleeping pad, and warm sleeping bag. Taking these small but important steps will help keep you warm, even on the coldest nights.
If you have a hot tent–one designed to accommodate a stove–this can be a great winter camping option. Bring a stove that is compatible with your tent and enjoy a cozy night at your home away from home. It’s always a good idea to pack extra blankets when camping. We recommend these outdoor blankets from Rumpl that are made to keep you warm and cozy.
Camper Camping
If you’re heading out in your camper, you’ll have a few more amenities to choose from–just make sure that your heat is working before leaving for your trip. If your heat isn’t working, or if you’d like a little extra warmth for early mornings or drying gear, investing in a portable heater is a great option.
Essential Personal Gear
Preparing your tent and sleeping gear is important, but making sure you are dressed warmly is just as, if not more important. Make sure you wear good layers, pack some hand warmers, and keep your extremities and head warm with gloves, socks, and a hat.
