Appearance: The Celestron Elements Firecel is an egg shaped device, that fits in the palm of your hand and comes with a draw string bag to keep it safe. This small device has 5 options for flashlight: red light, white light, flashing red, flashing white and a red/white flashing. The LED’s are small but certainly put out a good amount of light in the darkness. Along with the flashlight, the Firecel is a portable 2,500 mAh battery pack to charge your USB powered devices. The features don’t end there as the device also has a built in hand warmer with 2 different power settings.
Ease Of Use: The Celestron Firecel, was built to work hard. This tiny device does it all and is a great solution to many problems you face when outdoors. This rechargeable device, uses two sets of buttons to toggle between your flashlight, hand warmer and charging capabilities. The button on the left will toggle through your 5 flashlight options while the button on your right will switch to charging mode, as well as the 2 hand warmer modes. Located on the sides of the Firecel, they are easy to push. At first we were slightly confused at how you choose your setting, but after reading the directions, it became clear. You do have to be somewhat careful that you don’t accidentally hit it while it is in the included draw string bag. We did accidentally turn off our hand warmer at one point. With a 110 and 130 degree setting, the hand warmer will stay warm upwards of 3 hours. We’ve even had it stay warm for 4 hours on high after being fully charged.
Durability: The Celestron Elements Firecel was certainly a well thought out product, including gadgets people need and gadgets people want. Having it out camping and on the trail with us, it has proven to be a tough multi-purpose device. Although it is not waterproof, as the there is no cover for the USB opening or recharging plug in, the aluminum shell of the Firecel has stood up to everything we have put it through.
Weight: Weighing in at just 4 oz, the Firecel is light enough to bring everywhere and small enough to fit in your pocket. The ability to have a flashlight, portable charger and hand warmer in such a small product footprint is really incredible and comes in handy.
Value: At just $39.95 the Celestron Elements Firecel is one heck of a deal. This 3-in-1 tool is a steal for all of the features they have packed in it. Just the 2,500 mAh battery would go for around $40. Having a rechargeable hand warmer, that lasts 3-4 hours is invaluable as everyone gets sick of trying to use the disposable ones. This small device should be on you at all times when spending time outdoors.
