During our Field Trip to Portland we came across a variety of tasty Portland brews. Especially after a long hike, we at 50 Campfires love cracking open a cold one (or two) at the campsite. Nothing beats sharing an ice cold brewski with some of your friends around the fire. Cheers!
Here are some great Portland brews to keep on your radar!
Flat Tail Brewing – Tailgater Kölsch
If you’re feeling Kölsch style ale, Flat Tail Brewing is light and refreshing. Grounded in Corvallis, OR, the brewery recently teamed up with the comic strip Cyanide and Happiness, so you can expect some silly sipping. The Tailgater Kölsch undergoes a month-long fermenting process, leaving you with a classic lager-style beer.
Fort George – Quick Wit
For something fruity and easy-to-drink, we recommend you give Fort George’s Quick Wit a try. This simple wheat beer with orange and banana flavoring will have you feeling good. Fort George is bringing the party, whether it’s Burger Wednesdays or rockin’ live music every Sunday.
Ground Breaker – Ollie Ale
If you’ve got a great thing, share it. Beer is a wonderful thing. It’s only fair to make it gluten-free for those living their lives without ability to have gluten. That’s why this brewery specializes in gluten-free beer. The Olallie blackberry rose hip ale is as freaking awesome as it sounds.
Base Camp – In-Tents I.P.L.
All of the beer names at Base Camp are hilariously wonderful. If you want a smooth and complex beer, this is it! Base Camp also has $2 Tuesdays, so there’s a great reason to check it out.
Caldera Brewing – Ashland Amber
This brewery provides its most popular beers in cans, meaning you can easily take it with you camping! They’ve got 43 beers on tap, so you have plenty of choices when you get there. There are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages made in house as well!
Gilgamesh – Mamba
Gilgamesh Brewing is located next to a creek, so you can relax on the patio as it babbles along nearby. They’ve got a huge selection of food and Sundays are never tied to a menu as the kitchen staff creates all kinds of tasty magic.
Hopworks – Organic Hopworks IPA
With multiple award-winning beers, Hopworks is an obvious choice if you’re looking for a great Brewery while in Portland. They are the largest family-owned and operated brewery in Portland. They go out of their way to support their community and encourage people to recycle the cans they produce, so you know you’re dealing with a standup company.
Worthy Brewing – Easy Day Kolsch
This brewery loves to grow. They aim to create 2 or 3 new beers every month, so you know when you’re there you’ll be trying something new. They also have a hearth oven, so go ahead and order some fancy pizza to go with your Easy Day Kolsch.
Block 15 – Sticky Hands
Block 15 is a friendly brewery with multiple locations that brews right under the main area, beneath patrons’ feet. They have many different sustainability practices that they partake in to better the world and community. You can also get a great pasta dish or sandwich to go along with your Sticky Hands here.
Oakshire – Watershed IPA
Oakshire is a small, locally owned brewery in Eugene, OR. Their beers, however, can be found throughout the Pacific Northwest! They have wood fired pizza almost every night from 5-9 and plenty of other stuff going on every other day. Their public house is open to everyone until 8pm and have food carts to keep you full.
