About Outdoors

Explore. Equip. Empower.

At Outdoors, our mission is simple: we exist to help equip and empower you to explore the outdoors.

From camping tips to trail guides, in-depth gear reviews to destination lists, our team of passionate outdoor enthusiasts, including our Chief Adventurer, Bear Grylls, are dedicated to providing you with trustworthy, informative and enlightening content about the outdoors.

Our Story

Outdoors.com was founded by legendary outdoorsman and adventure Bear Grylls in partnership with Nashville-based firm Savage Ventures. We believe that life is an adventure best lived boldly, with curiosity and eagerness to discover new places and follow the path less trodden.

As a trusted voice for all things Outdoors, you will find news, product reviews, guides from experts, local hangouts, and more from top adventurers.

Outdoors.com officially launched in January 2023.

Our Team

Outdoors is staffed by a team of writers, editors and content creators who share a wealth of experience and passion for the outdoors.  Each member brings their unique skills and expertise to create engaging and informative content that caters to a wide range of interests and skill levels. In addition, we work with a group of highly seasoned “Outdoors Experts,” led by Bear Grylls.

Our Editorial Policies

In the outdoors, trust is essential. Whether it’s trusting your maps or your guides, your co-adventurers or your gear – you need to be able to rely on your skills and the information you have to navigate the outdoors.

Trust is also essential at Outdoors.com. We are dedicated to providing you with accurate information that helps us establish and keep trust with our readers, to build reliability and community.

Outdoors.com’s editorial policies are built upon the following core principles:

• Accuracy: We fact-check and verify all information before publishing to ensure its accuracy and reliability.

• Transparency: We strive for transparency in our content. If we receive free products for review or are sponsored by a company, we will always disclose this information to our readers.

• Expertise: Our content is created and reviewed by experienced outdoor enthusiasts who have firsthand knowledge and expertise in the topics they cover.

• Inclusivity: We believe that the great outdoors should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of age, experience, or background. Our content aims to cater to a diverse audience and promote inclusivity within the outdoors community. The outdoors is for everyone.

Sponsored Content
On occasion, we partner with companies and brands on content initiatives. When we publish a piece with direct involvement (provided content, content approvals, content direction, etc) from a brand, we add a “Sponsored Content” label, so readers know that there is outside influence on the piece.

Affiliate / Commerce Disclosures
We are enrolled in a variety of affiliate marketing programs, which means we may receive commissions on purchases made through our links to retailer sites. Our editorial content is not influenced by these partnerships, and this revenue helps support the high-quality content we publish.
We also have partnered with Holler Commerce to present the Outdoors Gear Shop, where we provide gear directly to our audience. You can read more on the partnership here.

Editorial Disclosures
Our writers will disclose any conflicts as applicable to research or editorial storytelling as applicable.

Erratum
Any mistakes or errors discovered and corrected after publication of an article will be updated and highlighted in the article, with a date stamp indicated within.

Gear Reviews
Products for review are either purchased by the reviewer, or provided to Outdoors.com staff or its contractors by brands and suppliers for review purposes. Reviews are always based on thorough and objective testing, and samples provided by suppliers or manufacturers do not guarantee a positive editorial review. Any sponsored gear or product reviews are marked clearly and align with our Sponsored Content policies.
