A hilarious call to the Lufkin Police Department details the moment a man and his wife were driving to breakfast when they spotted an animal on the side of the road. It wasn’t a dog as the wife originally suggested; it was a “freakin’ kangaroo” . . . in Texas. The interaction had the dispatcher laughing out loud.

“Ma’am, I don’t know who I need to call,” the man says after the dispatcher answers the call, “[but] there’s a kangaroo that come up the road [sic] and crossed right here.”
After a long pause, the dispatcher asks: “Ok, does it look like it might belong there?”
“No,” the man exclaims. “My wife’s like, ‘Why is that dog standing in the middle of the road?’ [. . .] And I look, and I’m like, ‘That’s a freakin’ kangaroo, and it starts hopping, coming down the road.'”
Soon, the man and dispatcher are both laughing at the absurdity.

Making the situation even stranger, a note at the end of the Lufkin Police Department’s Facebook post suggests the kangaroo, named “Kangaroo Jack,” actually lives in the area. The homeowner accidentally left the gate open and the animal escaped. The department infers that this particular animal was the star of the 2003 comedy Kangaroo Jack.
